Not enough memory error in Illustrator

Okay, this was a very unusual problem and I have never faced it before while using Adobe’s Illustrator CS2. I was working on a design in Illustrator which had some editable text in it, and I wasn’t able to save it in any way. The application was generating the error “Not enough memory”, even though there was an ample amount of memory left in the system and also, the design was relatively small in size. So the problem had to be related to something else and not the “memory.”
My colleague, Ahsan Parvez Liton (aka Liton bhai) was the one who helped me resolve this peculiar problem and hence sharing it here in my blog for those of you who are looking for a solution.
This is what you have to do
1. In Windows Explore, select Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab -> Show hidden files and folders. Also “uncheck” the “Hide protected operating system files” option
2. Copy “Identity-H” and “Identity-V” files found under the directory “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Resource\CMap" and paste them in the “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd” directory.
3. Restart Illustrator and now you should be able to save your document.
I have searched the internet, blogs and forums to find why this problem occurs in the first place. What happens is, when you uninstall any Adobe product (Acrobat Reader in particular) it removes some common or shared files found in the “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd” directory(the ones you have just pasted). Please note that this is just one way of tackling this problem. Hope this resolves the “Not enough memory” issue.
