Distorted Designers

hey all....did you miss me??? hahaha...anyway after a long break I got chance to design something, though for a course. I realized I already forgot lot of tricks in Illustrator...

This is actually a journal published as a book. After design I had to send all the files to Blurb, USA (http://www.blurb.com) and they are taking 7/8 days to print and will send to me. After that I have to submit the book to class.

I tried to emphasize on logo design and its importance in branding. I couldn't organize and discuss details due to time limitation. Still I tried my best. Download and read and make comments.

I couldn't thank my friends in the book who helped me lot, because it's a course book. But I am thanking them here:

Tashlima apa > No you can't learn anything about logo designing from here. It basically touches the importance of a logo to make a brand and few facts of Paul Rand's IBM logo design. You can consider it as an article published as book. that's it.

Shabbir bhai > 15 MB. the book size is 10X8 inch.

Shamoon bhai > No I am not running a college here in fact I am run by a college. Ya I am a MDes. (Master of Design - Graphic Design)student here at Raffles College of Design and Commerce

Asif congrats for your first book. I have gone through top to bottom of your book. Its overall nice as a first book. What I felt is you should have went through more detail in your content. Also it would have been better if you included some of your own works (logo/identity) there for real example (i have seen only the apple one which is really a great work).

I think your next book will cover up all the aspect of a logo design book. Why dont you write a book about the standard cost for a logo design. As you and me were fighting yesterday regarding the logo price

But the bottom line is you did it man. We really proud of you that someone from us published his own book. Great achievement

I read your book and found it interesting but as the title suggests "Design and the Designer", I was looking for something more from a designer's point of view, what i read in the book was mostly from marketing and branding point of view and how consumers perceive the design with only one example of the great Paul Rand. but overall its a nice book

ya shabbir bhai...it is basically a creative journal/article published as a book. I couldn't write more due to page limitation -I had to choose max 40 pages, not so many texts, just research on a case study. It seems anyone will find A to Z of a logo design from it, but unfortunately not. So you are right. It's a good start.

I used my apple and Oblique Professionals Logo. other than those I didn't find anything to relate. However I am starting the new one soon based on my past Logo designs. How I developed those from scratch to delivery along with my personal views/experience/suggestions/techniques. That gonna be something as a book

I uploaded this piece to inspire everyone. My book is nothing actually in terms of knowledge and all. You can start writing on your favorite area with some research and own experience.

I agree shamoon bhai that it talks more about branding and Paul Rand. Nothing to do actually coz I had to focus on these issues specially to meet the course requirement. Ya title can be changed to "Brand Identity & Branding".
