Inspiration? YOU.
I see a lot of brilliant works all around here, there. Working in a different industry is a definite backlog for me. I loose interests very easily. As a result, I'm not consistent at all. Looking at something eye candy is enough for me to get inspired. Also, good/bad words, any words for my works inspire me a lot.

When I'm busy with my professional work, I do not have time. But the nature of my job doesn't occupy meself through out the year. So, less busy times (like right now) I have 2/3 spare hours when I get back home.

But, eventually, they'll be picking me up. So, they'll attend, though for a brief amount of time.

Pagol, that is a very good question. So, let me answer this part by part.

Part 1: amader deshe cartoonist/sketch artist ra thik moto value paye na.
Answer: WRONG. Prothom kotha, cartoon and sketch artist are of two different natures. Sketch artist der onek value ebong tara highly professionallay educated. charukola theke fresh graduate ekjon er painting kinte jaan, simple water color 3ftX1.5ft, apni 1200/1500 takar niche paben na. Sketch artists are no different or maybe a little more expensive.

Now, cartoon pura different track. Amader desher educated artist ra ei media ke ignore kore. So, we only have 2/3 world class cartoonist among us - Rofikunnabi and Shishir Bhattachariya. Bangladeshe cartoon ke agaye niye gese jara, most of them are not professionally educated in this field. Ahsan Habib (a geography graduate), Khalid Ashraf (an architect), 95% of the UNMAD cartoonists (all college/university students not studying in this field) - started as underground cartoonists. As a result, mainstreamer ra eder patta daye na, no matter how good they are. I personally witnessed Shishir Bhattachariya humiliating an Unmad cartoonist in front of 30/40 people.

When I worked for UNMAD regularly during 1994-97, I used to get 300-500 taka for doing 2-6 pages. I never knew the rate because it didn't matter at that time. "I'm getting published in UNMAD" was the most lucrative result. I do not know how much cartoonists are getting paid now a days (in UNMAD or Prothom-alo or any other places). I did the GP sattire for free.

Part 3: and ota koto howa ucit and internationally ota value kemon
An one frame cartoon is normally sold for no less than 2$. The simplest lineart commissions normally cost 10$. A carricature, 20$, colored 30-40$.
- Eta international value ami bollam, jodi international quality hoy. Amader desher quality (for underground artists) onek niche - for example Shahriar in Prothom-alo (from the first look you can tell that he's an Archies copycat and he is worst at it). Ar art college er student ra etake ekdomi seriously naye na.

As we know you are expert(more or less) in this field, since you are working here for long time and still continuing. So from your experience I want to know who is your favorite cartoonist, "ideabaz", personality whom you admire.

Asif, I'm no where near an expert. Just to clear things up, I was an ameture. SInce 1999 till 2007 I didn't draw ANYTHING. So, I do not have much experience either.

My favorite cartoonist in Bangladesh is Shishir, for his drawings. Especially for his carricature abilities. His illustration works in "Goddo Cartoon" by Anisul Huq (published in Jay Jay din from 1982-1987, later published as series of books in February, 1992) was extremely hillarious, smart. Ranabi is the pioneer, who created the only original Bangladeshi cartoon character ever - Tokai.
But if I consider the real "laugh your liver out" material, Khalid Ashraf, Ishtiaque Ahmed and Ahsan Habib come to my mind. The early issues of Unmad are classics. These guys were the real ideabaz. Probably, Ahsan Habib is the only person in Bangladesh in last 40 years who constantly thought about cartoons seriously - throwing away all other things in the world.
I have another favorite ideabaz, who has 70% of his ideas unpublished - Azizul Abedin. I met him while working for Unmad. He doesn't draw, only has a wicked mind.
